Canal Walk and Cycle
Tullamore are very lucky that they have the Grand Canal passing through the town. One side brings you in the direction of Daingean/Edenderry, the other side towers Shannon Harbour. There is pathways on a fair percentage of the canal and you can also walk on the grass side.
Tullamore Town Park has a great children’s play area, with swings, slides and climbing frames. For the older kids there is a skate park and for people who like a more sedate leisure there is a bowling green. The only outdoor gym equipment I have seen in a park, is in Tullamore town park There is over twenty acres so plenty of area to walk and also have water features.
There is a couple of ways to access the park, one is the main street entrance by the petrol station, the other is by Cormac Street. There is paid parking by the Cormac Street entrance.
Charleville Estate is a working farm estate but people are allowed walk through using the roads in the estate. As you enter by the Charleville Road entrance, you will see on the right hand side, what the locals call, the kings tree. The tree is an Oak and is reported to be between 400 to 800 years old.
